European tourists head home after Sahara kidnapping

BAMAKO, Mali--Fourteen European tourists made their way out of theSahara Desert by road on Tuesday, ending a six-month kidnappingordeal at the hands of Islamic extremists linked to al-Qaida.

Mali's capital planned a lavish reception for the freed group,while at home, politicians in Germany insisted they should help paythe cost of their rescue, amid persistent reports of a ransom.
