HERTZ CUTS OUT TRAVEL AGENTS.(BUSINESS)

NEWARK, N.J. -- Hertz Corp., blaming slower business after Sept. 11, became the first U.S. car rental agency to eliminate travel agent commissions for some business and government rentals, following similar moves last month by major airlines.

The world's largest car rental agency eliminated an average 5 percent fee for agents who negotiate U.S. and Canadian business and government accounts. The last commissions were granted Thursday, Hertz said.
